My initial thought on the Doc Martin clip are that from the start of the clip the tension builds due more characters entering the small room which is already flooding water, even having the phone ring at the same time adds to the tension giving this scene a dramatic atmosphere. When Doc martin leaves the room the atmosphere still stays tense which is shown by him walking fast and answering back other characters with short sentences. When Doc Martin speaks rudely to the police officer this emphasises his anger even more.
