Analysis of Breakfast of Tiffany's Opening Scene

At the very start of the film opening there is a institutional logo to show the audience who has created the film which is 'Paramount Pictures'

Throughout the opening of this film, there are credits which are essential in openings. When the title of the film appears on the screen 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', the women is actually eating her breakfast out side Tiffany's which is a good contrast created by the producer. Overall all of the credits fade in and fade out of the opening.

At 10 seconds the setting is established, you can see tall modern buildings, street lights and flags which is portraying this area to be urban. There is also a yellow taxi which is associated with America meaning that the audience can assume that the film is set in an American city.The fact that the street lights are on, the lighting is dusk and there is no one around indicates that it is early morning. The women appears to walk very elegantly towards to building window which matches what she is wearing which is also elegant.The man at the end has car which looks fairly expensive and vintage which portrays him as wealthy along with the act that he is wearing a suit. The women in the clip has a little black bag and a white shall which adds to her elegance and completes her outfit. The main women in the opening of the film is wearing a long, sophisticated dress with pearls on it which is portraying her as a posh, upper class and wealthy women.This is further shown through her wearing black silk gloves. She is wearing minimal natural make-up which shows her elegance. The man at the end of the clip is wearing a black suit which is portraying him as wealthy and possible posh.

All of the shots throughout the opening are dissolved either faded in or faded out. This is able to show a relationship between the two shots and that the shot is most probable in the same place as the previous shot. There is an action match when the audience see the women walking up the shop window and then the next shot is her standing outside the shop window. In the middle of the clip there is a straight cut from the women's reflection to the women face. This is just shows an end to the previous shot. At the end of the clip, you see the women running to the door with the man behind her and then next shot is them in the house therefore making this an action match.

There are two pan shots which following the women walking away from the shop. There is a tracking shot of the taxis as it follows it as they pull up outside the shop.There is an low angle shot which shows the audience the shop sign establishing where the women is. It also shows the height of the building and how tall it is.There is a long shot which allow the audience to establish what the women is wearing. At the start of the clip there is a establishing shot of the city, this is showing the audience where the following shots are going to be.

Throughout the clip there is the non-diejectic sound of mood music which is relaxing and elegant which matches the calm city and the elegant women perfectly.The music is automatically portraying the main character as soft and kind. There is the diejectic sound of the man shouting 'Hey' but apart from this there is no other sound.
