Representation of Gender- Wire in the blood
At the very start of the clip there is a medium shot which shows the man and women both being argumentative at each other, this would be seen as a masculine trait. The fact that the women is pointing in the mans face angrily is suggesting that see is the more masculine character out of them both. This is further shown when the women starts to command her workers to do specific roles, which is showing her control over the other genders who appear to be feminine as they are passive of what she is telling them to do.The producer has then decided to dress then man in a all black suit with a cup of coffee which is shown through a medium shot. This is just one of the producers way of portraying masculinity. There is a medium close up which is representing gender, this is through the man smashing the other mans head against the wall. This is portraying the victim as feminine as he is vulnerable and the criminal as strong which would be masculine. The man at the very beginning of the clip is later portrayed to have a feminine side as he is being caring towards the young boy and you could also say that he is letting his feelings out which is massive feminine stereotype.Lastly you could argue that the women is also being portrayed as feminine through a medium shot which establishes that she is stressed out and is worry about her child. This is the producers way of making it obvious to the audience that the women is partly feminine as it is a feminine stereotype to stressed and family orientated.
There is a non-diejectic sound which is played when the masculine character are in the shot, many of the times crime or violence is involved as well which is portraying masculine characters to be involved with crime and violence rather than feminine characters.A loud noise is made when the man smashes open the door, this could be portraying masculine to be full of anger and violent. Lastly there is the diejetic sound of the popcorn popping everywhere which is a fun, happy sound. This is showing a different side to masculine as in the rest of the clip it is being portrayed as a violent and angry when in some cases it is not.
There are several action matches throughout the clip, these show gender as i feel there are masculine and feminine ways of walking through a door. When the women knocks on the door she does it very gentle and elegant which is showing the feminine way whereas the man just smashes through the door which is showing the masculine. Overall this is showing feminine to be polite and elegant and masculine to be rude and ignorant.
Mise-en-scene can show gender as well. The fact that the man is drinking coffee is portraying him as masculine as this is a stereotype for masculine characters. All of the male characters are wearing black or dull clothes which is portraying masculine to maybe be evil and have no way of expressing themselves through there clothes like most feminine characters would. When the man and the young boy are laughing a playing about the lighting it fairly bright which is showing a positive atmosphere which comes with feminine characters. When it goes to the shot with all the men in the room the lighting is very dark which is suggesting that with masculine characters comes negative atmosphere. Also in this set there is very old furniture which is showing that masculine characters do not necessary care about the place they stay as long as they have a roof over their head.
Overall this is clip is showing masculine to be dark, angry and violent and feminine to be bring a positive atmosphere, caring however sometimes stressed.

Criminal Justice - Age
Initial Thoughts
My initial thoughts on the Criminal Justice clip is that there is a clear difference between the young and old generation. I also noticed that with age comes authority and power whereas the younger generation are much more timid and are intimidated by the older generation. Lastly i noticed that with age you become more confident naturally whereas the younger generation try to be confident when they are not.
The mise-en-scene helps the audience establish the different ages within the characters. Costume is one way of determining age, in this clip all of the criminals are wearing the same clothes which could be showing that there is no authority in this sense. Also all of the characters are wearing neutral colours therefore no one is standing out from each other in relationship with age. The older mans language is representing power to come with age as he is intimidating the younger boy. The younger boys posture makes him seem timid which is showing that the younger generation are less confident due to their age.
Camera shots is another way of establishing the ages of the characters. There is a close up which establishes the two men showing each other respect. This is that the younger and older generation can have friendship despite their age. Another close up helps us establish age, a straight face and deep wrinkles show the audience the older generation where as shocked and frightened expressions show the audience the younger generation. A medium close up shows the older man getting in the younger boy face. This is then showing that power comes with age. In a medium shot you can see the posture of the older man. His posture is very relaxed which is showing that the longer you have been in this specific environment to more relaxed you become. This is further confirmed through the younger boy who has a very rigid posture and always looks on edge.Lastly there is an over the shoulder shot establishing the young boy and the older man having a conversation. The young boy is asking all the question which is showing that the younger generation rely and look up to the older generation. Therefore the older man is answering all the question showing that with age comes knowledge.
Editing is another way of establishing age. There are several eye line matches which show the younger boy looking up at the older men and the older men looking down at the younger boy. Therefore this is then portraying that with age comes power and authority. Continuity is kept throughout the clip which establishes that the characters age has not changed but also keeps the editing smooth.
Lastly sound can be used to establish age within the clip. When the older man says 'whack him' this is said in a sarcastic tone which is suggesting that with age humour changes as the younger boy does not find this funny. Also the older man says 'what you in for?' to the younger boy, then later in the clip the younger boys says 'what you in for?' to someone else which is showing that he is copied the older man. Therefore this shows that the younger generating are influenced by the older generation.

Overall this clip is showing that with age you gain authority, knowledge and power and that the younger generation can be timid and scared of the older generation but also influenced by them.

Representation of Gender- Cutting It
INITIAL THOUGHTS
My initial thoughts on representations of Gender in the Cutting it clip are that there is no obvious masculine and feminine figure within the two characters however the female character appears to be portrayed as more masculine than feminine with elements such as her paying for the cab, having control over what the couple are doing making the the male character unaware of where they are going. This is challenging the stereotype of masculine as it would usually be portrayed through a male character rather than a female character in this case. The male character is portraying masculinity to avoid important and sensitive conversation as he tells the female character 'no' when she wants to talk about their relationship.
CAMERA SHOTS
stereo-typically a masculine trait.
There is an long shot which shows the man confused in where they are going which is portraying masculine to not always be in control in a relationship.
Right at the end of the clip the man is leaning over women when she helplessly on the floor which is portraying masculine as stronger and have more power as he is leaning over her and also is portraying feminine to be helpless and weak.
SOUND
At the start of the clip there is the synchronous sound of the women saying 'im sorry' to her husband which is portraying feminine to be easy to give in and the one who is picking up the pieces in a relationship. Then by the man saying 'forget it, its gone' shows masculine to be forgiving.
When the women says 'i want to go in on my own' this is portraying feminine to be strong on there own and that they don't always need a masculine figure to help them get through hard times.
MISE-EN-SCENE
The fact that the women is wearing make-up although it is only minimal is portraying feminine to care about there appearance and want to look presentable where ever they are going like in this case to see an consultant.
Both of the characters are wearing smart clothing which is portraying both masculine and feminine to want to look well presented and have self respect when it comes to clothing.

Analysis of Breakfast of Tiffany's Opening Scene
At the very start of the film opening there is a institutional logo to show the audience who has created the film which is 'Paramount Pictures'
Throughout the opening of this film, there are credits which are essential in openings. When the title of the film appears on the screen 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', the women is actually eating her breakfast out side Tiffany's which is a good contrast created by the producer. Overall all of the credits fade in and fade out of the opening.

At 10 seconds the setting is established, you can see tall modern buildings, street lights and flags which is portraying this area to be urban. There is also a yellow taxi which is associated with America meaning that the audience can assume that the film is set in an American city. The fact that the street lights are on, the lighting is dusk and there is no one around indicates that it is early morning. The women appears to walk very elegantly towards to building window which matches what she is wearing which is also elegant. The man at the end has car which looks fairly expensive and vintage which portrays him as wealthy along with the act that he is wearing a suit. The women in the clip has a little black bag and a white shall which adds to her elegance and completes her outfit. The main women in the opening of the film is wearing a long, sophisticated dress with pearls on it which is portraying her as a posh, upper class and wealthy women. This is further shown through her wearing black silk gloves. She is wearing minimal natural make-up which shows her elegance. The man at the end of the clip is wearing a black suit which is portraying him as wealthy and possible posh.
All of the shots throughout the opening are dissolved either faded in or faded out. This is able to show a relationship between the two shots and that the shot is most probable in the same place as the previous shot. There is an action match when the audience see the women walking up the shop window and then the next shot is her standing outside the shop window. In the middle of the clip there is a straight cut from the women's reflection to the women face. This is just shows an end to the previous shot. At the end of the clip, you see the women running to the door with the man behind her and then next shot is them in the house therefore making this an action match.
There are two pan shots which following the women walking away from the shop. There is a tracking shot of the taxis as it follows it as they pull up outside the shop. There is an low angle shot which shows the audience the shop sign establishing where the women is. It also shows the height of the building and how tall it is.There is a long shot which allow the audience to establish what the women is wearing. At the start of the clip there is a establishing shot of the city, this is showing the audience where the following shots are going to be.Throughout the clip there is the non-diejectic sound of mood music which is relaxing and elegant which matches the calm city and the elegant women perfectly. The music is automatically portraying the main character as soft and kind. There is the diejectic sound of the man shouting 'Hey' but apart from this there is no other sound.
Thoughts from the pieces of Music
After listening to this piece of music i feel it would be most effective in a scene where someone is leaving home or their family and are perhaps not going to see them again. I also though it would be effective in showing someone going away to the war or maybe someone coming back from the war and they are lost and confused as they have been away for so long. I can imagine them searching around a small town looking for someone they know, but no one is in sight. This could be in slow motion so that it would fit even more with the music but it would still be dramatic and tense.

Half-term Homework- Regional Identity
INITIAL THOUGHTS:
My initial thoughts on this Regional Identity clip is that there is a clear representation of a rural area however you are able to see the two different lifestyles of people living in in the rural area. The stereotypical rural representation is being shown at the start by the man and the woman's clothing, their posh accent and words they use. However when you got further in to the clip rural is being shown to be small and have a lack of facilities but also very busy and loud by loads of people rushing down the stairs. This element is challenging the stereotype of a rural place as they would not normally be seen as busy and loud as these are stereotypes of urban places such as the city
CAMERA SHOTS:
At the start of the clip there is an over the shoulder shot which allows you to establish what both characters are wearing on their top half of their body. The women is wearing a little white hat and had minimal makeup on and the man is wearing a suit. This is showing rural to be traditional and pure. Also in the over the shoulder shot you can see some of the background of the room. There appears to be various picture frames on the wall which are old fashioned which is suggesting rural to be traditional and old fashioned.
In this medium long shot you can establish what the women is wearing. The all black long dress appears to be very traditional which is the stereotype of a rural women. She also looks to be cleaning the clothes with a large bucket of water. This is a very traditional way of cleaning however it could be seen as a cheap and poor way which essentially challenges the stereotype of a rural woman as they are not necessarily seen as poor. Although the fact that it is a women cleaning confirms the stereotype of a rural women as there lifestyle is revolved around doing house work.
EDITING:
There is an eye line match between the man and women at the beginning of the clip. The man is looking down at the women which is suggesting that in the rural lifestyle the man has more authority over the women in the relationship.
SOUND:
You can also hear a train in the background which is an asynchronous sound. This sound would usually relate to an urban place however it sounds like a steam train which is old fashioned and would make more sense to be in a rural place rather than an urban place.
Although throughout most of the clip there is narrator, you are continuously able to hear footsteps which is suggest this place to fairly busy.
MISE-EN-SCENE:
Throughout the whole clip there are elements which suggest a rural place. These are things such as small roads, small buildings, old fashioned photo frames and all of the scenery being very gloomy and dull.
The clothes that the characters are wearing are a massive indicator to the regional identity. All the women have hat of some sort to cover their head and are covered from head to toe. This is suggest rural women to have a lot of self respect. The man at the start of the clip is very well dress with a suit on. This is suggesting rural men to want to look smart and respectful.
When the women is washing the clothes in a pot and all the clothes are hanging across the road, this showing the traditional elements which is being suggested in the rural place This could also be showing the lack of facilities there are. Also the cleaning is being done by a women which confirms the stereotype of a rural women as they are know to be house wives.
When loads of people rush down the stairs it appears to only be men which is suggesting that in this area men are the ones who go to work to earn money for the family.
Overall there are many representations of rural however the fact that it sometimes appears busy and rushed, the stereotype of rural is challenge and is almost showing the urban lifestyle.

Age in EastEnders Clip
Initial thought
Firstly from the clip i can tell that the three types of generation are around the table. Patrick being the older generation, Denise and Lucas being being the middles aged and Libby and Chelsea being the younger generation. The representation of age in this clip is shown by the eldest character having the most knowledge from personal experience and it then sharing it with his family. Also amount of knowledge is showing the age of the youngest character as she is able to share information with the family which she has be taught at school. All of the characters in the clip are interested in the topic they are talking about despite them all being of different ages. I can see that the youngest and the oldest around the table are able to relate more as they both seem to have more knowledge than the middle aged characters which is representing middle aged people as not knowing as much as everyone else. This may be because the younger generation are still in education and are learning new things everyday and the older generation would have gained knowledge throughout their life whereas middles aged people haven't been around longer enough to gain there own knowledge and also it has been a while since they have been in education.
Representation of Age can be shown through camera shots, sound, mise-en-scene and editing.
Camera Shots
Several times in the clip the camera pans over all of the characters around the table. This allows you to establish the different ages around the table and what makes them different from each other.
At 11 seconds there is an medium shot which establishes what the older character is wearing(Patrick). You can see that he is wearing a shirt and waistcoat which represents the older generation to dress more smart and traditional. However you can see that his top button is underdone which represents his age to be relaxed as well as traditional.
At 16 seconds there is an establishing shot which almost makes Patrick appear to be a the top of the table even though it is round. This is therefor representing his age to have the most authority over everyone else around the table who are all consequently younger than him.
At 23 seconds there is a medium close up which establishes that the one the younger generation characters(Chelsea) is wearing make-up and has large loop earrings in. This is representing her age to care about their appearance and like to wear obvious jewelry. Also in this show you can see that she is wearing a bright blue top which represents her age to be outgoing and not afraid to wear bold clothing.
Lastly at 36 seconds there is a medium close up of Patrick which establishes that he has grey hair, wrinkles and a mustache which is representing his age to be not as worried about appearance as they he is not doing anything to try and hind the wrinkles or grey hair.Whereas the younger generation character(Chelsea) is wearing make up as she is being represented as a person who cares about their appearance.
Sound
Throughout the whole clip Patrick has a strong accent which is different from everyone else in his family. This is representing his age to have more of a cultural background and to have had a different past compared to the younger aged people in his family.
When Chelsea becomes interested in what Patrick has to say here mum Denise questions her by saying 'Chelsea taking an interest in something, how much you had to drink?' This is representing Chelsea's age to usually not be interested in what the older generation have to say hence why her mum is so shocked. Also the fact the what Denise said was sarcastic may be representing her age to use sarcasm to try to be funny.
When Denise says 'I'm glad you asked, I want to know as well', this is representing age in a way in which different age groups can be interested in the same topic.
Mise-en-scene
The mise-en-scene in this clip can easily represent age through each of the characters clothing.
The youngest character( Libby) is wearing glasses but are rather large and could be classes as old fashioned and smart. This could be presenting her age to care less about being on trend but to look smart and well educated. Also she is wearing a dull grey top which is representing her age group to be afraid to show individuality with clothing and that they are not necessarily worried about looking on trend.
The middle aged character Lucas is wearing a dark black top which is representing his age to not be outgoing with clothing and also that they may not have the confidence to wear bright clothes and just want to blend it and get on with life.
On the table you can see that all the characters are drinking alcohol which is representing all the age groups around the table to be allowed to drink alcohol. Patrick is drinking Rum which is different from everyone else. This is representing his age in a way in which they may prefer to drink spirits rather than beer and wine like the younger generation characters are.
Lastly you can see that there are loads of collected ornaments and books which are on the selves in Patrick house. This is representing his age to have a desire to collect items from the passed. Overall this is showing his age as he is able to collect a large amount throughout his life so far.
Editing
All of the family show the same reaction which is representing age to not effect they way you react about something hence why they all react the same.
Conclusion
Overall in this clip age is represented to have different aspects depending on what age they are however sometimes in the clip all the of the different ages are represented to have an interest in the same topic and react the same towards something they heard. Education and knowledge is a massive representation of age as well as clothing and appearance.
